It is also known as Pigeon Peas, Archar Dal, Toovar dal, Tuvar dal ,Pelli Dal or Yellow dal in various regions. Toor Dal is healthy and easy to cook and tastes delicious with Roti or Steamed Rice.

Preparation and Usage
- Wash Toor dal in fresh water for 3 – 4 times
- Soak in enough water to cover for at least 30 minutes.
- Replace with Fresh water (1 cup of dal use 2 cups of water), bring to the boil and boil for at least 10 minutes.
- Cook it on medium flame for 30 – 40 minutes until dal is cooked. Add or remove water to change the consistency according to your taste.
